"Kindness is an album as refreshing as it is thought-invoking. The frustration with our society is hidden deep in the bouncy and easy-going songs, creating a totally unique listening experience. I found myself enjoying songs more and more as the album went on, and every new repetition as well. A great example of high-quality songwriting blended with brutal honesty and personality." ~ Tyler Roberts, Rising Artists Music Blog

"As always, Marks' voice is a smooth, silky sheet that glides across her piano melodies or whichever instrument her arrangement requires. A common theme running through her original songs is a positive call for people to put aside smaller differences and think in terms of the bigger picture, people getting along and living in harmony. ~
Billy Copeland Music News

"
Home, the latest release by Massachusetts-based singer-songwriter Linda Marks...invokes deep emotions in a gorgeous way...Never losing the conservational vibe that defines her sound, every new song was different but fit the theme perfectly...Home is a great display of intimate songwriting and Linda Marks' prowess." ~ Tyler Roberts, Rising Artists Music Blog

"Marks has been tightening her song craft with her last two albums,
Monuments Of Love and Songs At The Heart Of Life...and continues her upward climb in quality music and she continues to make a great mark on the New England singer-songwriter scene with each release. Marks' new Monuments Of Love ushers her listeners through these months of pandemic life with lively, lovely music and lyrical imagery of what life has become during these months." ~ Billy Copeland Music News

"Songs At The Heart Of Life continues to build on all of her vocal abilities, chiefly her skill at conveying a great deal of emotion without pretense or affected flair. She also maintains her ability to work her voice in just right amidst the flowing beauty of her accompaniments, her lyrics shiny bright and gloriously hopeful." ~ Billy Copeland Music News

“Marks has outdone herself on
The Piano. She has never marshaled her musical strength as well as she does on this album. She has everything perfectly arranged, comfortably layered, and smoothly performed. Aside from her solid song craft, Marks still delivers the personal warmth in her lyrics and delivery that she has always been known for. She just delivers it better than ever on this disc. ~ Billy Copeland Music News

“Marks scores not just another fine album with
In Grace. It is her strongest thus far. Every song feels like it’s approaching something epic. She’s risen to a higher level or writing, arranging, performing, and recording. With Doug Hammer turning the knobs at Dreamworld Productions in Lynn, Massachusetts, Marks knocks it out of the ballpark with a palpably superior effort.” ~ Billy Copeland Music News

“Linda Marks’ latest CD ‘Moments’ is a fine document of where this Boston jazz lady is at…Combining her pop freedom with her jazz sophistication, Marks can impress the ear while soothing the soul with her lovely work.”
~ Billy Copeland Music News

“Linda Marks is a talented singer-songwriter with an attractive voice who puts plenty of honest feeling into each of the songs she interprets…While the singer puts a great emphasis on the lyrics, she swings well and when called for comes up with fresh interpretations to even the best-known standard, and consistently uprights the materials, doing justice to each song.” ~ Scott Yanow, Jazz Journalist and Historian

"Linda has a lovely voice and she sings ballads while playing piano. Her style incorporates a lot of beautiful notes on the keyboard that really support her voice. Marks wrote most of the melodies and also arranges strings into her folksy ballads. They add more emotion on different layers to her own awesome abilities.  Uplifting mellow music for all ears! Check it out!" ~ AJ Wachtel

“THANK YOU to Linda Marks for rapidly responding to some of the most confusing moments of Covid confinement, to creatively communicate the concept of casting aside the woeful weaponries of wars past and present, to embrace the total truth of quite simply loving all of earth’s inhabitants equally to unify humanity in healing harmony using an angelically articulated artistry of word, voice and purposely peaceful piano playing” ~ Veronica Ebert, Australia

About Linda Marks (short bio)

Songs from the heart touch the heart. And as we are touched we feel a full range of feelings, which move us to heal, connect and take meaningful action. Through her original songs and other songs that inspire her to cover them, piano playing singer-songwriter Linda Marks brings her whole heart to music, reaching the heart of the audience. Linda is a multi-genre artist anchored in contemporary folk, integrating elements of jazz, gospel, pop, and Latin in her songwriting arrangements. Over the past decade, she has played many of Boston’s top venues including Scullers Jazz Club, Club Passim, The Burren, City Winery, Club Cafe and Ryles, as well as participating in festivals and performing arts series like the Newton Festival of the Arts, the Rhode Island Folk Festival and the Boston Public Library. Linda has both performed at and written songs especially for fundraisers and non-profits such as Buddy Dog Humane Society, Upstage Lung Cancer, Charity Umbrella and the Cat Connection, Casa Myrna and RESPOND. She has been featured in the Boston Globe, Boston Magazine and Metrowest Daily News, and on National Public Radio’s “All Things Considered.” Linda has released ten albums, nine with award-winning Doug Hammer of DreamWorld Productions. Her first of two pandemic albums, Monuments Of Love was released at a triple album release concert at the Burren on 8/1/21. Her second pandemic album, Home, was released digitally on 11/25/21, and as a special CD mastered by Grammy award winning sound engineer Glenn Barratt of Morningstar Studios on 01/01/22. Home charted at #18 on the Folk Chart for January 2022 (Folk DJ's, Folk Alliance International). Linda released her 13th studio album Every Day Legends, on 01/01/23, and it spent over 8 month on the Roots Music Report Folk Charts. Her 14th studio album A Recipe For Hope will be released 01/01/24. Building community through music and the arts has been a lifelong commitment. Linda co-founded artist-alliance group Women In Music Gathering, created the Music Salon as an intimate house concert series in 2014, and pivoted to grow it as an online community during the pandemic. To provide upliftment during pandemic times, Linda has been playing a weekly lifestream, "Songs From The Heart, Meditations For The Heart" on her personal Facebook pages since March 2020. She leads the International Singer Songwriter Association (ISSA) Boston (Northeast) Chapter, and won the 2023 ISSA Award for Best Representative USA. ABOUT

Linda Marks integrates elements of jazz with contemporary folk and pop, sharing poignant original songs and fresh arrangements of favorite covers, in an intimate, heart-to-heart style. Over the past ten years, Marks has played a wide variety of venues, including Scullers Jazz Club, Amazing Things Arts Center, Club Passim, Club Cafe, the Burren, City Winery Ryles, the Boston Public Library, the Newton Festival of the Arts, and the Rhode Island Folk Festival. Linda has both performed at and written songs especially for fundraisers for non-profit organizations including Buddy Dog Human Society, Upstage Lung Cancer, Charity Umbrella and the Cat Connection. She has been featured on the National Public Radio Show, “All Things Considered,” Boston Magazine, the MetroWest Daily News and the Boston Globe. Since 2014, Marks has recorded 14 albums: Heart To Heart (2015), Coming Full Circle (2016), Say Yes To Love (2017), Singer / Songwriter (2017), Moments (2018), In Grace (2019), The Piano (2020), Songs At The Heart Of Life (2020), Monuments of Love (2021), and Home (2022), all done in collaboration with phenomenal award-winning sound engineer, pianist and composer, Doug Hammer of DreamWorld Productions, and Every Day Legends (2023), Kindness (2022) and A Recipe For Home (to be released 01/01/24) in collaboration with Erik Balkey of Hudson Harding Music and Glenn Barratt of Morningstar Studios.

Linda’s story is relevant to women in music today; following a period of writing and performance in her early 20’s (including releasing her first album, Dreams and Themes in 1983, appearing on major Boston music radio stations, and performing at Club Passim), Linda took a multi-decade hiatus during which she raised her now twenty-something son. Linda spent many years wanting to jump back into music wholeheartedly, but was sandwiched between the realities of being a single mom and caring for a mother with Alzheimers. Her journey embodies the very real struggle women in music face - merging family responsibilities with musical passions. In early 2018, Linda co-founded the Women in Music Gathering, an artist-alliance of women in music; singer/songwriters and performing musicians, with the primary goals of collaboration and support, extending to both personal and professional aspects of being a women in music. Linda is the ISSA (International Singer-Songwriters Association) Boston (Northeast) Chapter representative, is a member of the Recording Academy Class of 2022 (Grammys), and a Big Records Artist.

Linda is also a pioneer in the body psychotherapy field, and an author who has toured the country, appearing on national television and NPR radio affiliates as a speaker on mind/body hearing and the power of the heart.

“Lifelong singer/songwriter Linda Marks not only sings from the heart, but also writes and arranges her songs from her heart and in doing so she hopes to capture an emotional, magical moment that may be experienced by the listener. Marks composes and arranges songs ranging from originals to favorites that include many genres, such as jazz, Broadway, bossa nova, and folky pop.” ~ Indie Music Women

“Linda Marks is a classy and accomplished singer/ songwriter, composer and mother. Linda is a piano-connected creator and social trendsetter who holds a degree from Yale with honors and distinction from Yale University where so co-founded Something Extra, Yale’s 3rd women’s a cappella singing group as a 17 year old freshman.” ~ Colette O’Connor, Notes from New England, the Wimmin’s Show KZUM

“The Lion,” a timely song of hope and strength by Linda Marks, chronicles the journey of a very accomplished and successful individual whose life unraveled due to the dark shadows of alcoholism and accompanying mental health issues. The recent deaths of Kate Spade and Anthony Bourdain illustrate the underneath the veil of financial and professional success, the power of invisible dark shadows can truly haunt our lives. The song, incorporating a beautiful, spiritually inspiring three-part harmony vocal arrangement with flute over a piano accompaniment is both a prayer and a long song, invoking celestial energies to nourish “The Lion’s” spirit to soar, touching the sky and prevail against all odds.” ~ The Indie Source

"Linda Marks' strong and passionate vocals and excellent piano playing are the main focus of each cut..Nice horns and solid strings dance around her vocals and add strong support behind this talented woman...Laid back and mellow with passion and drive." ~ Aj Wachtel
