THE POWER OF VOICE
The voice is a critical pathway to connect with, understand and express who we are. We all have feelings, energy and experiences we wish to share. Others need to hear and receive what we have to express and share. Expression and connection are two fundamental drives of humanness. As singers, we can be conduits for sound and emotion.
Linda integrates mind-body tools including heart meditations, grounding exercises, and singing to help you find your authentic voice and become more comfortable and familiar with your voice as a channel to express your life energy and use your heart’s power in ways that are meaningful to you and others. You can arrange for private coaching or participate in a workshop. Contact lsmheart@aol.com.
What does it mean to “have a voice?”
The roots of voice original in the spirit and soul. When a singer truly inhabits a song, the audience not only hears the message but also can feel it and be moved emotionally and spiritually. To have a voice is vulnerable—like sticking our necks out or wearing our hearts on our sleeves…and there is power in vulnerability. Having a voice allows us to express our most human experience and validate the most human experience of others.
Singing from the heart…
The throat is midway between head and heart, and often serves as a bridge between the two.
Fear and tension impact that quality of our singing and speaking voices. Unexpressed feelings, thoughts and sounds can live in us as emotional energy blocks. When we become safer and more connected with emotional and energy blocks and what lies underneath them, our whole human instrument, body and soul, can resonate. When we sing from the heart, both our energy and the quality of our sound change.
When we sing from the heart, we can literally touch the heart of the audience.
