October is Domestic Violence Awareness month, and I have extended both local and global support to survivors through performances.
On October 5, 2024 I performed on the Waltham Common as part of REACH: Beyond Domestic Violence's Fall Festival. I am also involved in a forthcoming Lawrence initiative called RESTORE, a gathering of politicians, creatives and nonprofits who are working together to help heal trauma through the arts.
"Sanctuary," a song I wrote inspired by and including words of domestic violence survivors recorded with a global team of artists, was submitted for the first round of this year's Grammys in the American Roots Performance genre.
"Be The Change" is an uplifting song of hope and empowerment and a call to action in our trying times. You can make a difference! Small steps create bigs waves! Be the change! (Co-written with Mike Greenly). Watch lyric video here.

Bill Copeland Music News writes: "As always, Marks' voice is a smooth, silky sheet that glides across her piano melodies or whichever instrument her arrangement requires. A common theme running through her original songs is a positive call for people to put aside smaller differences and think in terms of the bigger picture, people getting along and living in harmony.

LINDA MARKS MUSIC
Music is a universal language that reaches deeper than words, and connects us all heart to heart.
Saxophonist Andre Ward often asks his audience after playing a couple of songs, "Can you hear me?" And when people answer, "Yes," he then says, "I know you can hear me, but can you feel me?
Songs from the heart touch the heart. And as we are touched we feel a full range of feelings from tears to joy. And as we are touched, our hearts open and often heal.
Through both her original songs and other songs that inspire her to sing them, Linda Marks brings her whole heart to the music as she seeks to reach the heart of her audience.
Having worked in the mind-body medicine field as a heart-centered body psychotherapist and life coach for more than 30 years, Linda loves to help others grow and heal through her Power of Voice workshops and coaching. Bringing people together and building community through music has fueled her vision for the Music Salon.
Linda's first album, Dreams And Themes, was released in 1983. After a multi-decade hiatus, Linda released her “Heart to Heart” album incorporating many of the songs from her October 2014 Heart to Heart Cabaret Show at Amazing Things Art Center in Framingham, on September 16, 2015 at Scullers Jazz Club. She released her “Coming Full Circle” album at Scullers Jazz Club on September 1, 2016. In 2017, Linda released “Say Yes To Love” on September 1, 2017 and “Singer/Songwriter” on November 25, 2017 to great reviews. Her “Moments” album was released on September 27, 2018 at Club Passim. Linda’s seventh album, “In Grace” was released at The Burren on October 13, 2019 with a dynamic full band show. Necessity is the mother of invention, and Linda found ways to release two albums in 2020, "The Piano" and "Songs At The Heart Of Life," in spite of pandemic-necessitated sheltering at home. Her 10th and 11th studio albums, both full of pandemic-inspired songs were released in 2021, "Monuments Of Love" and "Home." Linda's 12th studio album, "Kindness" curated and produced with Erik Balkey of Hudson Harding Music, and Glenn Barratt of Morningstar Studios, was released on June 1, 2022. She is at work on two 2023 studio albums, "Everyday Legends," which will be released January 1, 2023, and "A Recipe For Hope." Her song "I Can Only Imagine," which will appear on "Everyday Legends," won Best Song - World Music, World Songwriting Awards.
Linda serves on the Board of the Boston Association of Cabaret Artists (BACA) and leads artist-alliance group #WIMG Women In Music Gathering, co-founded by Linda, Cindy D'Adamo and Colette O'Connor. Linda is a member of the Recording Academy, Class of 2022 (Grammys).
